I am Tim Gmeiner, an animation student at the College for Creative Studies. I was born and raised in a metro Detroit suburb, Canton. As a kid, my favorite pastime was exploring the woods at my local park. Naturally, this led me to become a Scout. As a Scout, I earned badges in art, wood carving, cinematography, and graphic design, which all helped spark an interest in art. From then on, I knew I wanted to be in the arts in some way or form. This led me to pursue art as my major when I started college. In 2018 I started attending Western Art School in hopes of getting into their graphic design program However, I did not get accepted into this program so I used that time to focus on improving my drawing, painting, and writing. I even had a drawing and painting of mine featured in their student gallery. After Two attempts at Graphic Design and one year to develop a portfolio at Western, I transferred to CCS for their animation and Entertainment Arts program. It felt like the coolest major there could be, writing and creating art to tell a story. I have come to learn that it's lots of work and can feel overwhelming but I have always tried to challenge myself and this field is one where you can always find ways to improve.

When it comes to the types of art I draw towards to make there is much variety,  recently I have found myself very interested in 3D computer graphics animation, but 2d rigging and scene organization and assembly are two other areas I also enjoy. Animation fundamentals like hand drawn and experimental laid the foundation for learning to do 3d or 2d motion graphics. While at CCS I was awarded the Matilda Wilson scholarship in my sophomore year. Also, Last fall I got to work on a professional project by working for the village art factory. I designed a Background that was used for SpongeBob the Musical. I look forward to a career with many exciting and innovative creative projects.
